kingscote - garden design - 2021

Our brief from this client was to create a haven where their young children could learn about the natural world within their own garden. Our design brought in a number of features. To add a sense of structure we brought in a new walled border, a sandstone paving terrace wrapping the house and passing beneath dramatic steel rod archways and trees, between walls of climbing plants.

In the back garden, we introduced a series of hexagonal zones, demarcated with different reclaimed materials. Each represents an opportunity to explore a different aspect of the outdoors and they include a pond and pump also fed by rain-water run-off from the house, a sandpit, a mud kitchen, and greenhouse and beds for growing fruit and vegetables.
